Michelle Trachtenberg has Died !

it feels so shocking, losing one of the Buffy cast doesn't seem so real, especially one of the youngest, feel so much for her family

She was the very youngest of them all, although older when she died than Glenn and Andy. All in their 30s. Thankfully, nobody else can be added to that list (all 40s-70s left).
When you saw Michelle portray a character, you saw the character, not an actress portraying a character, she was that good. The DVD comments even had Alison Hannigan remarking about her ability. She was also good in Eurotrip and one episode of NCIS L.A. where she played the feisty daughter of an admiral. I guess when God calls you back, you are bound to go, but there was so much more she could have done from age 39 on. She had been on the same soap opera as SMG and SMG was the one who recruited her for Buffy.

Still sad and too young. R.I.P. Michelle, we will miss you.

I remember watching House when she popped up in the one of the episodes.
I'm not afraid to admit that I shed a tear for Michelle Trachtenberg, today. I can't believe it! When a friend of mine first told me that she was dead, my first thought was 'Nah, that's too hard to believe. It's got to be another fake celebrity death hoax!'. I was shocked when I had checked it out for myself! A part of me is still wishing for her to post a new social media message saying 'I'm still here guys!'.

So, so sad. 🙁

R.I.P. lil' Dawnie!

Like anyone, when a friend or family passes, people mourn and feel full of sadness - but we should celebrate her life, her career, her being on this planet for 39 years.
So don't cry (too much), celebrate her as if she was still with us and mark the date of her passing on your calendars because from now on it'll be her day for all of us (Buffy) fans.
This is a good point. I have made a list of rewatches to honor her. I did that for Shannen last summer, too.

Trying to find a decent copy of her show "Mercy," where she played a nurse on eBay.

Well, I misread that as you saying she had played a nurse on eBay, which caused some momentary confusion.
I'm embarrassed to say that I just found out about Michelle.
I'm not one to watch the news and read or watch a lot of showbiz news either so this has been an incredible shock to the system especially give her relative young age.
Actually in tears about it and so sad for her family and friends and also her partner who I read she was in a relationship with.
And Sarah having to go through another loss after Shannen and given I believe that Sarah recommended Michelle for the role of Dawn having known her already.
I imagine there may be a possibility of a tribute to Michelle for the reboot in some sort of fashion.

RIP Michelle Trachtenberg.

An artist made this and it's doing the rounds.

Wow... just saw this. <3
There will be no autopsy to determine the cause of Michelle's death.
Trachtenberg's family objected to an autopsy for religious reasons so the medical examiner's office was unable to determine how she died.

Because there is no suspicion of foul play or criminality associated with the actress's death, the medical examiner did not overrule the family's objection and limited the investigation to an external examination.

Still in such shock over this. It's like a punch in the gut every time I see a post about her passing. Wow.
It's clear she touched soo many lives over the years. Her legacy will absolutely live on and she will never be forgotten.

That's fair, honestly. Even if it wasn't for religious reasons. It's not like she was a perfectly healthy person. All we know is she'd had a liver transplant. It's entirely possible she had more issues going on that only her family knows about. But a lot of people think it's related to the transplant which would make sense too.

They gave me the option of declining autopsy since my mum had been ill because her attending knew what cause of death was - i didn't want invasive violation that wasn't going to 'fix' anything. Losing a parent (or worse, i think, a child) is trauma sufficient.

As long as the doc treating her was comfortable that death was a rational or even expected outcome i can see why no autopsy. At some point you realize nothing will bring the person you love back and you need to let go... And you find you can and it is a relief.

This hurts all the most because i lost mum and my best friend last year. Even though she never knew me, Michelle feels like someone I knew and cared about. I am tired of all this death.

Much the same with my father in 2017 after having his first stroke in 2010 with mini strokes, falls and seizures in between. It was known well in advance that the next one could be the big one. Michelle's health had been declining for a long while.

I am so sorry you lost your mom and best friend. I suffered multiple close losses of my own last year so I can empathize. Thinking of you. Hugs. <3

I'm sorry for your loss. 🙁

I think it's good that they respect Michelle's family's wishes of no autopsy. This must be so hard for them. 🙁

Yes, I think Michelle's family was pretty sure why she died and didn't need that for closure. They should get to make the decisions for their own peace of mind.

I'm sorry for your loss, @DeepBlueJoy.
