It occurs to me that Giles didn't like Buffy needing him in season 6, but he got all bitter and drunk when he thought Buffy didn't need him in season 4!
Why did Willow and Tara not help contribute to paying the bills? They were living at the house, using the electricity, using water, eating food, etc. Why was it left to Buffy to pay the bills?
Didn't they? It's never stated that they didn't pay the bills, and I always assumed that they did. I mean, they lived there, right? Why WOULDN'T they pay the bills?
Exactly, yet we never see them mention having a job in which to earn money to pay the bills. Buffy has to work at the doublemeat palace to earn enough money yet Willow and Tara seem to just swan about the place at leisure.
I assumed they used their dorm rent to pay (since they weren't sleeping in their dorm anymore). And Willow and Tara weren't just slacking, they were students.
It's possible I guess. Still, why didn't they try and get a part time job to get extra money, maybe an evening one which gives them time for class and to do their homework. It just seems like they left Buffy to struggle financially.
They must've been paying the bills whilst Buffy was dead, so why did they let her work in the doublemeat palace? I get Buffy wanting to contribute to the bill paying but they could've at least given her the chance to find a decent job. It seems like Buffy only worked at the DP because she needed cash fast to pay the bills, yet if Willow and Tara were already doing that, why was there such urgency for Buffy to find a job?
Because Willow and Tara didn't have ENOUGH money, so Buffy needed to pitch in too. And I think that Buffy's urgency to get the Doublemeat Palace job was because she put it off to the last minute, and then was suddenly like "damn, how did I not take care of this already?" It seems like the kind of thing that Buffy would do in season 6. Don't forget, Giles gave Buffy money in 6x05, which gave her enough time to find a good job for herself, and yet Buffy didn't join the Doublemeat Palace until 6x12. Buffy didn't have any apocalypse to worry about at the time, so it's clear that she was just slacking off instead of trying to find a good job in time. She was just "going through the motions" instead of really trying to get her life together, so she suddenly found herself in need of immediate cash in 6x12.

I love Willow and Tara, but they were a couple of Wiccan leeches. I never saw them contribute any money to Buffy; and I still don't understand how her minimum wage salary could possibly make a difference in keeping the house, bills, food, hangers-on, etc...but hey, its television.
I would also like to add that going back to the dorms would be a much better offer for Willow. She could focus on her studies and live her life like any other 20 year old girl without worrying her head about Buffy being late and Dawn having a difficult homework as well as all the housework. But Willow stuck around to help Buffy! That's why Willow was living there.
