Do you relate to any of the Big Bads of the 'verse?
Which would you follow if they were in the real world?

I would want to follow Glory but try to harness her ferocity into something good for this dimension instead of torture, death and chaos

life being the big bad of season 6- death, existentialism, sex, drugs, money, bills, life etc.

Dark Willow- I relate to Willow to begin with so Dark Willow is just when we get really moody and sassy

Glory, Adam, The Master- feeling trapped & like I’m not realizing my full potential

Faith- my reckless abandon getting the better of me.

Glory is basically Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. She just wants to get the green shiny thing and go home, but some how Buffy ended up in her story. Like, she just needs to kill some monks and some knights, tolerate munchkin land and go home. I get that.

I would like to say I relate to Mr. Trick, but he would probably just call me a honky.

Chumash Warrior Ghost of Thanksgiving Past. I hate it when the white man takes my land too, and steals my sacred relics, and thinks I would want to challenge a Dean to single combat. They took my land, not invalidated my hypothesis opposing the Clovis first settlement of the New World. C'mon!

I guess I would choose Spike because he started off as someone creative but then someone twisted him into something else. He also had clear maternal issues. He had a kind, creative mind and then someone took advantage of his vulnerability. He then proceeded to have more and more issues, with his actions becoming more harmful. Meanwhile, as he became a harsher, colder person, he also had a soft spot for people he loved. Eventually, that soft spot led him to fight for change.

Agree, I can relate to Spike as well.
I'd like to think I'm more like Dark Willow, but I'm probably more like The Mayor. 😳

The Mayor was, generally, a nice guy!
If I didn't know the end game of the Mayor I could see myself helping him out as a necessary evil.

Back when people were trying to get me to watch Buffy, more than one said I'd relate to Faith. As it turned out I didn't as Faith is way too impulsive, lusty, etc (not necessarily a bad thing in my book, but it's not me). Still, if I became more nihilistic (as a life of horror, violence, and death as Faith experienced might make me) then perhaps I could. But I'd have to give up on everything but the next moment. (I'm also generally not jealous as Faith was of Buffy. But then it seems everyone is prone to jealousy in the Jossverse, so maybe I would be there.)

I'm surprised and maybe a bit relieved that no one has picked Gwen Raiden. Or for that matter, Gwendolyn Post.

Ethan isn't a big bad, but the desire to cause mischief and let chaos take over becomes stronger every day. But I relate to Ilyria too lately. She's confused about the world today and angry and fancies Wesley - that's relatable!

I think the closest I come to relating to any is being envious of Glory's clothes budget... 😀

Gwen is not a big bad. A player in the game, sure. An antihero? Someone who Gunn randomly has sex with, of course. A personal friend of Raven Darkholme, probably. But not a big bad.

Might be good to clarify what we mean by "Big Bad". For me, a Big Bad is the villain that is THE significant focus of at lest a season.

Gwen? Gwendolyn? Chumash Warrior? None of these would be Big Bads. 1-2 episode appearances don't make them significant enough to the overall season plot. Neither would Ethan or Trick.

To me, Buffy Big Bads are:

S1: The Master.
S2: Spike, Angelus.
S3: The Mayor (Trick ends up Mayor henchman and Faith isn't the FOCUS of the season's A plot).
S4: Initiative/Adam
S5: Glory.
S6: The Trio (Big is doing a lot of heavy lifting), Willow
S7: The First (Caleb is a First Henchman).

Angel: Angel actually has a series wide Big Bad in WRH covering all seasons. In the individual season the overriding issue is more personal than external (Angel losing his way in season 2, childcare and Wes in season 3, etc.).
