It still has the meaning of a person waking a person ie he WOKE the person.

Being alert and attentive to racial prejudice and systemic equality.

Google states it was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017 even though my 1977 copy of The Concise Oxford Dictionary that has that word in it.

I'll add people who hang out "trendy" coffee places, while praising they're yoga classes.
I hate the word woke because of how it makes me feel. Waking up in the morning is my worst time of day. I hate being woken up, therefore I hate the word woke. The current cultural meaning behind it doesn't make me hate the word any less. I hear woke and I hear GET OUT OF BED, and I feel ready for a fight. I can't change that, so they should get a better word for all the other new stuff it means.

I’m aware that it has an actual definition but I see too many idiots on both sides of the isle use the word incorrect that I now hate the word. I can remember when the people who now use it as an insult used to claim to be woke.

I really dont know anymore because it's one of those words, like the word "racist" that gets constantly misused, and missaplied to so many things, that it has pretty much lost its impact and true meaning. At least from my perspective.

Woke is a word that came into its original meaning around 1920. Slavery had been abolished but blacks were still hunted in many parts of the US and one of the admonitions blacks gave each other was "Stay woke" meaning stay alert to people who intended to harm them.

Since then, the word has been culturally appropriated by Marxist postmodernists who form the bulk of university faculty these days and it has come to apply to identity politics, political correctness, gender identity, misandry, deplatforming, doxxing and cancel culture, all of which are attempts to force people to think and behave in a particular pattern whether it is justified or not. True to its Marxist beginnings, it advocated the use of force and when someone says, "Your ideas are doing violence to mine" it means they consider it to be appropriate to repay this bogus violence with real violence.

The word woke has been skewed completely. It originally meant to ‘be aware of racial inequality/injustice’, now I don’t even know what it means. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? I’m neutral here
