Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1987) - 8/10

Saw this on the big screen tonight, and what an epic, feel good romp it is. One of the best Trek films, probably only second to Wrath of Khan.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Director's Edition (1979) - 6/10

Still a bit of slog and at times very messy. What's weird is even when it goes for a bit of humour it does it in a way that doesn't feel true to the characters (like Kirk winking). Worth it for the amazing Jerry Goldsmith score (one of my film scores ever), and for some beautiful shots and set design, but its a conflcting experience overall.

The Motion Picture feels like they took a specific episode from TOS and bloated it up.
The Odyssey (2026) Not the worst movie I've seen but certainly one of the most disappointing I've watched ever. A heroic epic without a hero, a mythic film with little myth, filled to the brim with modern revisionist takes, atheism and 'boomerisms', a film that doesn't have much to say about heroism- especially the Greek embodiment of the concept- but much to say about shame, guilt and modern madhood. Basically its a re-skinned Openheimer.

The accents didn't help with the emersion as well; the American accent will always be coded with modernity- 1940 onward; before that either go classical English or authentic Greek with subtitles. Otherwise this is one step away from Xena: Warrior Princess.
I don't really care about the casting, although the acting was mostly awful all-round. Robert Patinson was the only standout who didn't come across as Larping and insincere.

An objective view 5.5/10, my personal rating after reading a translation of The Odyssey 2/10

Whilst I don't agree with your rating, I agree in regards to the accents. But to have a big blockbuster film with subtitles? I can already hear the complaints and whining. Would've loved it, but it would never happen.
The Invader (1997) - 5/10

An earth woman becomes pregnant by an alien and another alien is chasing them and intending to kill them. IMDB gives it 4.2/10 but it is better than that.

Agent Zero - 6/10

A female agent in Morocco has to eliminate an arms dealer who is supported by the French secret service. IMDB gives thiis grim story a 5.3 but it is better than that.

Have not had a lot of free time to devote to my tv shows and films as of late, but I did manage to squeeze in one first time watch this week.

Cobra (1986) - 6.5/10
This movie rocked! It had lots of good action and car chase scenes, and just the right amount of 80's camp to appeal to my taste.

Serenity (2005) - 8/10

Terror Trips (2023) - 1.5/10

The Ghost of Frankinstein (1942) - 4/10

The first duff sequel of the original Universial Monsters series.
