There's absolutely nothing wrong with speaking out in legitimate cases where serious wrong and illegal wrongdoing however in the case of Joss Whedon people like you are making it out to be a Weinstein-level sort of a situation to which it was nowhere near such a thing.

That in itself is where the metoo movement ended up losing me...rather than being a movement to address actual cases of serious wrongdoing it has become a movement for people with vendettas and Charisma and Michelle abused that.

Charisma spoke out only after Ray Fisher levelled allegations at JW. It gave her (and then Amber and Michelle) courage to those who couldn't speak out against men in positions of power. Notice it was a man speaking out first - because if a woman does so (whether in regards to a toxic workplace, or sexual harrassment) they're the ones who generally suffer, not the person accused.

But it speaks volumes that a number of women spoke out afterwards (and in support of CC) about the environment on the series.

So I'm sorry that the metoo movement 'lost' you, when women just want to be treated as equals and not be abused by men in positions of power.

Also, perhaps I missed something but didn't Joss have to "sign off" on the reboot, even if he wasn't involved? He owns the rights to Buffy right? Surely it would have been illegal otherwise? Can anyone clarify? Nick is acting like Joss had no idea about it...

Nope. Disney owns the intellectual rights, which means they can decide what they want to do with it.

Whedon has creator rights and royalties as the creator of the idea.

So if the reboot had happened, you'd have a line in the credits to the affect of "based on characters/premise created by Joss Whedon" and he would get certain royalties.

Case in point: George Lucas has the same thing for Star Wars even though he sold the intellectual rights to Disney.
