I just finished reading Fray and oh my god I loved it. It's like blade runtner merged with BtVS and the result is fantastic.

It would make an amazing TV show imo. Like if there's gonna be a Buffy Reboot, do Fray!!! (and cast Tessa Thompson as Melaka Fray). Also have the music be like Janelle Monae.

Such a great comic. I do wish there was a sequel to it (besides her appearance in Season 8).

What are everyone else's opinions of Fray?

My one complaint is I wish we had more time with Erin and Harth. Which is another reason to have a sequel! I'd also love a sequel that worldbuilds a bit more and gives Fray some relationship drama.

I also loved the Fray series. I would love to see it in live action. I love the futuristic world of the Buffyverse. It's an interesting concept and is separated enough by time from the show, that it works to create a new slayer mythology. I wish Joss would do more Fray comics.

and cast Tessa Thompson as Melaka Fray

I loved her as Valkyrie, and I think that she will be good in the new Men In Black movie, but, at 25, isn't she a bit old to play what is essentially a 16 or 17 year old girl? I don't have anyone in mind specifically for the part, but there must be some younger candidates out there with sufficient qualifications to play the part.

I wholeheartedly agree

I understand what you’re saying but older actors play younger people all the time. Plus Fray is 19 and I just think Tessa would be perfect for the role.

I love your reaction to the comics/graphic novel- I bought the graphic novel years ago and got to read the whole Fray series in that beautiful book and it was super enjoyable. The story itself, let alone it's tie in to the Buffyverse is amazing and art is fvck!ng dynamite!! (for lack of a more perfect expression)

I agree that Fray could definitely make an amazing show, but don't mind the new slayer series taking place in modern time... and maybe tying into Fray though eventually.

I also agree that Harth and Erin are great characters. Harth is one of the greatest, most complex villains ever and Erin is an intriguing character because of how she's connected to Fray & Harth and because of how badass she is (like half Buffy Summers/half Kate Lockley).

Yea, I like Tessa Thompson, but I also don't think she fits the role of Melaka Fray. I also picture someone a bit younger. No one is coming to mind right now. Possibly someone like Rosa Salazar, depending on how Alita: Battle Angel goes.

What about Bella Thorne? I agree with that other poster above that thought she'd be perfect for the role.

I don't really think she fits the role either, but I also haven't seen much of her work

I could see Rosa Salazar. My main thing is, Fray reminded me of a more cyberpunk-ish valkyrie. But I do like Rosa.

My (possible) casting:

Melaka: Tessa Thompson
Harth: Daniel Kaluuya
Erin: Danai Gurira
Guenther: Jeff Goldblum
Icarus: Charlize Theron (completely redo his character cause he sucked but Theron is awesome)
Urkonn: David Harbour (he's already Hellboy, why not?)
Loo: Sophia Lillis
