Let's see, part two, time to go back and refresh myself of what happened in this particular section...
Arriving on Thetis is the old any landing you can walk away from is a good one and this one qualified. Just. Some repairs needed, though.
So, most of the crew have noticed that Jane may be Jayne's daughter. The main exception to this is Jayne himself, who is being oblivious. However, the section ends in an interesting way.
We're still kind of in the setup phase, although the Serenity crew are now operating at more of a disadvantage until the ship is repaired.

I'm writing for the action, we had a bit of it with the fly into Thetis, and of course another bar fight, but I agree we're still in the set up part of the story.
I did like Simon's little story and flashback though.

This book is a bit slow moving to be sure, I guess it is a good end fight at the end of this section, BUT we obviously know that Jayne will be fine, so that kind of removes the drama a bit.
I was honestly expecting more of a reaction from Jayne about Jane. It seems weird that it takes him so long to even consider that she might be his daughter and that he doesn't seem to have much of a reaction that Temperance essentially named her daughter after him (whether his or not). He's dumb, but is he that dumb?
Temperance is a bit of a mixture of the madam from Heart of Gold and Saffron for me, though not quite either, her character gives me the feeling of "we've seen this before", but she does fit into the world, so that's fine.
