The I Will Remember You ficathon is a Buffyverse fandom event that has run every November since 2004. On the anniversary of when the episode “I Will Remember You” first aired, Buffy/Angel shippers come together to post a new story every day in November to celebrate one of our favorite ships. I’ve participated several times, and have signed up again this year. It’s always a ton of fun, and it’s incredible how long the IWRY ficathon has continued after the shows ended. If there’s anyone on Buffy-Boards who hasn’t heard of it, signups for 2017 are open, and you can find them here. Also, even if you can't participate, please help me boost the signal on Tumblr to fans who've never been involved in the BB or LJ parts of the fandom. You don’t need an LJ account to sign up, but you will need an AO3 account.

The rules of the IWRY ficathon are simple: each submission must be new, complete, and Buffy/Angel focused. It can be anything from a short one-shot (though preferably longer than a drabble) to an epic-length fic, and there are no rating restrictions. I haven’t seen any all-human AUs in previous years, but I don’t think there’s a specific rule against them. There’s also not a rule against submitting multiple stories. In fact, the more, the better!

So, if you’ve been sitting on a Buffy/Angel fic idea but haven’t worked on it, this is probably the best time of year to do it. And if you’ve never written a fic before but would like to try your hand at it, this marathon is NOT just for veterans. We’d love to see new writers, and there’s no better year for it than BtVS’s 20th anniversary year!
 
Is this still a thing? I thought this ended in 2013. The old website stops at 2013, where did the stories get moved to? I'm so excited to read all of the entries.
 
Oh yeah, it's totally still going! It just moved to AO3 after Dark Star stepped down from running it (though the old pages are still up, as far as I know). Now Angelus2Hot is in charge. Here's the collection page!
 
I was super nervous the first time I participated (holy crap that was seven years ago). I thought the IWRY marathon was something only the elite Buffy/Angel shippers who had been in the fandom from when the early seasons of the show first aired were worthy of doing. But it's basically just a big nerdy writing party for everyone who loves the ship and can still make the time for it, and we're super excited about any newcomers. 🙂
 
Thanks! Everyone is so nice in the B/A community, so that's reassuring. It's more about still being in that early stage of ambition not matching execution. But I know I've got to start somewhere, and I'm starting very, very small!

I'm very much looking forward to reading your contribution, @Taaroko. I adored everything you wrote for last year's.

I won't participate because I'm way too insecure about my english to even consider it, but I'm really excited to read the fics and leave reviews, etc.

How amazing it is that something like this is still happening after all those years! I heard about it before, and I did stumble upon the website once and added it in my favorites to eventually start reading bangel fanfiction but life happens and I never got around to it. I'm really pumped!!
 
I don't write fic (yikes), but I've been following you lovely ladies and the IWRY marathon for many, many years now (dear god, I've been in this fandom since 2004).

Taaroko, you're one of my absolute favorite writers because you actually set many of your fics in the early seasons, including even seasons 1 and 2a (you're one of the only writers who does fics surrounding 1x07, for example). Of course, I pretty much love every single thing you've ever written. 😀

If anyone needs a Beta I am happy to give feedback! I am not a good fiction writer mainly because I can't write dialogue but I'm a great reader and can give constructive criticism.
 
I'm also willing to beta. I'm pretty anal about spelling and grammar (so much so that I regularly hyperventilate about the 15 minute cutoff on this site to edit posts until they're perfect), so I'd probably do okay with it.

I also have pretty encyclopedic knowledge of BtVS and AtS, so there's nothing that is likely to get by me in terms of characterization, mythology or anything else. There's a reason why I write analytical metas instead of fanfic. The character I specialize in analyzing is Angel (I can spot OOC in a heartbeat). I also have extensive historical knowledge (18th century is actually one of my eras) if anyone needs help on historical flashbacks or time-travel fics. It's one of my biggest hobbies ever and I will even do research if there are questions.

I'd also happily lend my services to anyone for whom English is a second language.

I will be reading the fan fiction but not submitting anything. I just don't think I am ready yet and it might not get written because I tend to get too picky when I write. Reason why I don't finish anything; least not big.
 
I tried to post on the LJ page that I would be a beta but i don't see my post. 🙁 Not sure what I did wrong I posted it a few days ago. I don't think there is a way to message someone on AO3. 😕

My comment took a few days to get out of moderation. I actually think I'm seeing yours when I look at the link.
Unfortunately, LJ has pretty thoroughly exited my life (people still use it?) and I barely used it in the first place. I pretty much only ever go on it to read rec'd fics from many years ago. If somebody needs a beta, though, either PM me here, post in this thread or perhaps on Tumblr's chat feature (NileQT87).

It would be nice if the Bangel community could all congregate together. I feel like we're so spread out that it seems like there are really few of us in any one place. I feel like a major part of my life in the Jossverse has been chasing down the latest place to congregate!

@Grace so weird I see it now! I guess it took some time to post? I saw your comment. I would love to Beta your fics when you are ready if you would like and how cool that @Kairos said she would Beta she is one of the Bangel fic greats! 🙂
