Ok so on the fanfic im working on i was thinking of kinda a interactive feel too it and would work kinda like this.
I would write up too a certain point and then i would picture say a song that would go well with that scene so i would pick a song and put it in the disclaimer every chapter and put a * or something like that to let the readers know when too play the song. I just wanted too see how people feel about that, if it adds to the story or takes away from it.

I've seen other writers do this before, some people seem to like it. Personally, I usually dont like it too much because when I read I like to let my own imagination run wild, I love painting my own scenery and characters, and having a song sort of prevents me from picturing my own mood for the scene. Also, for me I have to get in the mood to read and I usually won't just stop reading to go and do something else, once I start I usually can't stop.

However, I don't read much fanfic, mostly just original stuff, so that might be why. I have seen some fan made videos with songs before and thought dam, that song fits this ship well, or the scene well. So it might work in a fic.

You might get away with it in a fan-fic, but you might not, if you don't the writer of the music might seek legal advice.
It might add to the scene, problem is if the reader has a picture in their mind of the scenery and what is happening and you suggest they listen to a song that doesn't fit into that persons imagination, that person might not bother with the rest of that fan-fic, or any other fan-fic you write.
HOWEVER, if you write effectively and describe what is happening and where it is happening so that the person is in tune with what you are writing it might work. Better is the notion of describing the music and to describe the lyrics?
Another point to consider is if you do add a song to listen to, that person might have to go to you tube to listen to the music then getting back to the fan-fic might have to read it again.

Ok good points everyone. So im thinking maybe ill just suggest a song in a disclaimer no links or anything just kinda a suggestion
