Hi all!

So as many of you know I am from Canada and at this time of the year the sun is pretty rare. So i started thinking about how it would be hard for nordic girls to be slayers with the sun missing and the winter gear that would amke it hard to fight. So I was wondering, what do you think it would be like to fight vampires in the nordic countries? What would be good strategies to survive during the winter?

Let find a way to stay alive during this dark and cold time!

🙂

I actually live south of the polar circle now. Yay me! It is still really dark, though.

The biggest problem with being a slayer in Norway is Sigrid. She is a vampire with a soul, but if you have sex with her, she turns into the terrible Sigrídur.

I've never been able to understand why vampires leave the safety of long dark Canadian nights for the hellmouth in sunnydale. At best they should be like birds and just migrate there in the summer when we have our short nights. If I was a vampire I would definitely spend my winters in the north!

If they weren't already dead they would die waiting on it.

Uh.. maybe because they want to flee Canada like any normal minded person would.

and I guess they don't really need all that free health care we've got lying around everywhere just begging to be used.
Actually I have... I could not get away fast enough. I have been all over Canada.

Awww maybe Canada is just not for you! Don't need to hate on us though 😉

But back to the original sudject which was how do you think slayers would survive in a nordic country?

It's not hate... more like... pity.

Killing vampires in Canada winter would be easier than in Cali summer.

I don't have the desire to fight you on this so please keep it nice and friendly, I don't want any wars on my threads.

Maybe it because their not a lot of people up there . They need to be in city's where the body count is hidden 😵

I went back on topic when I said killing vampires in Canada winter would be easier than in Cali summer.

I just imagine slaying like this:

Do you think a slayer would be a little bit immune to the cold?

Do you think it would be easier because there would be more vampires or because of the location?

Winter. People would be inside. Would make spotting vampires out roaming easier. Harder for vampires to find food so they would be more brazen. More brazen means taking more risks, which means being noticed by the Slayer. Plus the Slayer would be bundled up and have more protection. Easier to track vampires in the snow too, just follow their footsteps.

Now the fact on whether or not they would actually expel breath is up for debate, but that could be a telltale sign as well. No hot air fumes when talking.

Ok this makes sense, I like it! I can see a lot of vampires going to arenas and ski mountains to eat the winter sport lovers!

I think that while they do expel breath it not warm since they have no body temp so seeing someone talking without seeing a cloud would be a big clue .
Also they have to dress up in cold weather gear & I sure a lot wouldn't either do that or do a bad job of it .

Another way you catch them.

I love the observations of this post. Everyone has made great points.

I'd personally imagine that vampires would have a hard time eating for a living in a cold country like Sweden or Canada. The sparse population would make it difficult to keep murders hidden. So while they could enjoy being out longer, there's less to eat. Now a place like St. Petersburg, Helsinki Finland, Stockholm, Montreal, with large population centers and long nights, would be perfect.

That being said, if you are a vampire trying to reform or not live off of human blood and aren't skiddish the wild life would provide an ample supply, and would help sharpen those hunting skills.

It puts me in mind of the Let the Right One In, which is a very good vamp flick set in Sweden.

This would actually make for a nice fanfic... hmm.

Also I'm very pro-Canada.
