Hi all,

I wanted to create afun thread where we could post fun trivia on the characters and cast of the Buffyverse. I'll start with some of mine:

Originally Ryan Reynolds was asked to play Xander but didn't want to play a high schooler as his experience as a teen wasn't so great. Also, Katie Holmes was in the talk for the Buffy character but she let it go to herself go to high school.

Be creative, what are yours?

A lot of the female Buffy cast auditioned for the character of Buffy before SMG was cast and were given other roles instead.

AH got the role of Willow because of delivering the line "most of it" (in regards to did Willow get her Barbie back) in an optimistic tone.

JM originally auditioned for Spike with a Texan accent.

The scene of Spike and Dru looking like they were about to kiss then turning their heads to face the camera was taken from JM's audition with JL and put into the episode.

Didn't know that! That's such a striking moment
A lot of actors played multiples villains:

Brian thompson played the vampire Luke and The Judge
Camden Toy played, a Gentlemen, the Gnarl and the Upervamp
Jeff Kober played the vampire Zachary Kralik and Rack

Oh and Tom Lenk played Andrew and the vampire Cyrus in the Harmony's minions team.

My favorite is the one that @EarthLogic shared a while ago, which is that David Boreanaz played the Master in Buffy's dream in When She Was Bad.

Also, AtS had Sean Gunn play the Brachen demon who asked for Doyle's help in the Hero flashbacks and that guy who helped the escaping alien women in She -- just four episodes later. Was I not supposed to notice? OK, I probably would not have noticed if I hadn't watched Gilmore Girls before Buffy and Angel. 🙂

Oh there are a bunch of doubles also if you count BTVS and ATS:

Jonathan M. Woodhard playing the vampire Holden in BTVS and Knox on ATS
Andy Umberger (Greastest name ever) Playing D'Hoffryn on BTVS and that creepy stalker guy that could detached his limb in S1 of ATS (The I Fall to pieces episode I think)

Kal Penn became a cavemen on Beer Bad of BTVS and was a W&H employee who tortured Cordelia in That Vision thing on ATS

Carlos Jacott was the main demon on Anne of BTVS and the Doyle's ex-wife new hubby on ATS

Joss likes to re-use actors a lot which is great!

Charisma lived two blocks away from David, yet neither knew it until they ran into each other one day.

Stephanie Romanov and Christian Kane had a short-lived romance during S2.

Charisma helped Sarah with some of her cheerleadering moves, drawing on her real-life experience of being
a San Diego Chargers cheerleader.

Lilah and Lindsey! HOT!!!

Ship name: Romakane
Faith's surname is 'Lehane' and was decided by Joss himself specifically for the Buffy RPG.
He was asked to come up with one and so he went with something that sounded 'Boston-Irish and kinda Southie'.

Kendra's full name is Kendra Young.

Anthony Steward Head didn't know if Buffy would be renewed after its first season so he starred in the pilot episode of 'Jonathan Creek' as the magician Adam Klaus.

I love that Sarah Michelle Gellar & Charisma Carpenter were both sought after for roles in 'The Faculty'; SMG as Marybeth & Charisma as Delilah. I would've loved it more if they actually made that film together but I believe Charisma didn't want to play Delilah because she was so close to Cordelia (superficial cheerleader bitch). Would've been great to see Sarah play the alien queen though.

I would have loved that casting, althought I love this movie already!
@fauxindigo I'm not really into super tall man and Marc is way too much of a golden boy for me. I like my man scruffier like Lindsey 🙂 But I can't argue about Marc's abbs, that I understand the appeal!

see I like them tall AND scruffy ;) But tall/short, clean shaven/scruffy-- if they're sexy, they're sexy.
Couple of bits of useless Buffy trivia:-
1.
One of Sarah's first jobs at age 4 was in a Commercial for Burger King. It was the first time an ad named a rival in a derogatory way in the ad...…
Unsurprisingly McDonald's sued. The lawsuit failed & now it's common practice in U.S ads.

One of Alyson's first jobs, at age 4 was a Commercial for McDonald's!

2.
In the show Alyson played a Jewish girl, when in fact she's not Jewish! Sarah & Michelle on the other hand do have Jewish roots!

Michelle T is of German & Russian Jewish descent.

Sarah is of half Russian Jewish & half Hungarian Jewish descent.

I can't even believe I didn't know SMG was Russian & Hungarian. I thought she was of French descent!

actually both Willow & Alyson are 1/2 Jewish (per Whedon writing for actor). Willow is raised in the Jewish faith
Sarah Michelle Gellar was a figure skater who placed third in NY State competitions.

Julie Benz started skating at age 3 and competed in the 1988 junior ice dancing championships with partner David Schilling and they got 13th place. One of Julie Benz' acting jobs in 1996 was on Diagnosis Murder (episode Murder on Thin Ice) where she played a figure skater and guess what? She was the murderer as well.
