Dracula a big bad?

THis may be a dumb question but is dracula considered a big bad at all in the buffyverse?
 
No, I don't think so, otherwise he would have been in more than one episode 😉
 
I think Drac was there to set up the narrative for season 5 (and even parts of season 6!). Buffy's interactions with Dracula made her open her eyes to a slayer's primal power and what it meant, with the episode ending with Buffy asking Giles to begin her training again, to explore and learn of her Slayer roots.

Chipped Spike felt like more of a threat than Dracula, even when he was all mind-controlly in her bedroom at night. I felt Dracula's only purpose was to ignite the arc in season 5, sparking some development with nearly all of the characters and their issues.
 
He's a big good in the comics. The most loyal ally the Scoobies had ever got. Way more reliable than Angel, the watchers and stuff.

You have to remember, we're talking Dracula here, the guy who actually defines the word "vampire" to most people. This is Buffy's coming of age episode when it comes to vampire fighting. She's not just playing in the big league anymore, she's in the freakin' World Series.
 
I felt like he was a big joke. He didn't represent a big joke, but seriously, the guy traveled with his own dirt, and as Spike said played parlor games, and sorta looked like Johnny Depp.

So the symbolism of him was meaningful, but he was sort of campy. I shared Spike's opinion of him. I didn't feel like he was a serious danger to Buffy and he didn't seem to be dangerous to anyone else. But maybe I am blinded by all the funny things they put into that episode...lucky Giles!
 
I kinda felt they should have made a big deal out of Dracula, he is, after all, the most famous vampire in history. I was a little underwhelmed with what we got, but then I know they played it for comedy. Still, seeing a truly menacing Dracula big bad would have been awesome, he clearly had the ability to enthrall Buffy and all her nearest and dearest.... just imagine how dangerous that could have been....
 
No, technically, there was only one Big Bad per season.
They are, in this order:
1. The Master
2. This one's a bit trickier: You could argue that Spike/Dru were initally, then when Angel lost his soul, it Angelus...or you could see them as one entity, I suppose.
3. The Mayor
4. Adam
5. Glory
6. "Life" as Joss would say, or the Trio and then Dark!Willow if you need something more physical.
7. The First Evil
 
Dracula was like Kilgrave.

He used mind control to seduce and have power over Buffy like Kilgrave did to Jessica Jones. He made her do what he wanted, caused her to feel unsafe in her own home, forced her to let him feed on her while she was barely dressed and in bed under the covers, which was sexualized even more since he read her mind and saw/felt how much she enjoyed it when Angel fed on her (SMG said Buffy orgasmed). He mind controlled one of her friends to spy on her.
 
I always thought he was conjured by the monks to get Buffy’s blood to make Dawn ie not the real Dracula . She dispatched him a bit too easily.
 
Traditionally, where the Big Bad is the final boss for the season? No. Not by a long shot. But, I suppose there are a number of characters throughout the series that are more dangerous and developed than Orc or Vampire in period clothing that usually fills the show. Their story could fill several episodes, if not a whole season. This includes, any master vampire, which includes Dracula, characters like Sunday "the turned slayer," Veruca, Lower Beings, The Immortal, Season 4 Faith. You could call him a "Major Bad," but that sounds stupid. So yes, Dracula could carry an entire season, but, he didn't. So, not a big bad.
