Are we still doing frugal tips in this thread? Flour works great as dry shampoo! Haha. I have so much flour at the moment I decided to give it a go and was surprised how well it worked.
Add cocoa powder to blend it in more, and smell chocolatey

Corn starch works well too.
I got the next 6 months worth of face wash and moisturiser with 25% off mothers day vouchers online 😀
I cancelled a little grocery order this week to have a big order next week. Dog food is as cheap as it gets, heaps of half price snacks and things that I dont usually get, but have an excuse to stock up on next week.

Have a look on olio, sometimes instead of what we have you have people on there that collect the supermarket food and give it away.

Looks like that will have to wait until I finally get that new phone I keep saying I am going to get! Given that it is an app and I cannot install any more on this phone.

Yeah, there is that!
News is saying the energy price cap is finally coming down!

Yes; the current prices are still a killer. It's good for electricity, but I would have preferred gas to have come down in the cold weather when I was using more of it. Cheaper gas prices in the summer months just do not have quite the same impact.

Well, friends, my clumsy butt fell and broke my ankle in two places, and it’s looking like I’ll need surgery and that I won’t be able to work for months.

Time to start selling those feet pics.

Good news is I have a new roommate to help with household costs.

Hope you heal quickly

Look at surgery as making sure the bones are put together so that they heal properly. I had a fracture of the tibia and fibula in 1989 and once both got screwed together, the healing was faster and I have not had any trouble since then.

Sorry to hear this! I hope you can get back on your feet sooner than you think!

Oh no! Sorry to read this. Hope you're not in too much pain and you're able to get the surgery asap to heal up!

Aww, that sucks. 🙁 Hope you get better soon.

I dont know why, but my coles had a $20 credit on it. So yay for that! I put an extra order in for Thursday.

I was looking at an aussie frugal thread the other day and it seems I'm still spending far less than most people, even those that live in the cities. So I am pleased with that because I had been splurging on things like salad bags and avocados. Plus this food is pretty much ALL of my food, I rarely eat out and when I do, everyone knows about it cos Im so excited by it haha.

I was actually so proud of myself for finishing a jar of vegemite before the use by date! But then I checked the use by date - it was out of date in January haha. I have ordered another. That has to be the most cost effective spread there is!

I feel like I spend less on food than most people do too. And with this broken ankle I’ve had barely any appetite.

What is Vegemite?

The Aussie version of Marmite

I spent a lot on food this month, not sure why though. Well some extra was the eurovision party, but £200 for a month, including that is still a lot for me. I definitely won't be spending a lot next month.

Although I did need lots of stuff for the cat this month, which comes under the grocery spending.

There are going to be some increases in the payout from the Canada Pension Plan, so I may live a little better next month but with municipal taxes being what they are, this will just keep up. I put in my renewal for the Canada Dental Plan, so some necessary things may get done in the near future.

Well the cost of owning a pet is definitely a growing problem. The increase in dog food and Vet prices alone should make a perspective new pet owner to think very hard about what they'll be taking on. A 35 pound bag of dog food used to be about $30 just a couple of years ago and now it's $80!🐕🐕‍🦺🐩 Regardless of the cost though I wouldn't give up my to buddies for anything.

Aww! But I hope your buddies aren't Great Danes!

For sure! I had to switch my dog to a less quality food because of this :(
Yes, I've noticed that the 2kg bag of dried cat food has gone up, and the pet shop seems to have a smaller range of that brand now too. I could easily switch to a cheaper brand, but this one isn't full of crap, so I do prefer it.

His treats however are aldi cheap ones, although even they've gone up 10p

Prices for groceries still seem to be going up almost across the board. Fresh fruit is one area where I notice prices have actually gone down a bit to what they were, but that is about the only thing.

My dad needs two types of eyedrops after cataract surgery. The co-pay for one is $3.29, the other is $47. We were a little dismayed to find we needed a second bottle of each. We thought the $47 one would do for both eyes, but they warned of cross-contamination. I'm very careful not to touch the tip to his eyelashes when I put it in, so I don't know how contamination would happen, but whatever, I want to follow the rules!
