Jonathan was never punished.

Sure he was, he was betrayed and murdered by a loser who he thought was his friend. Jonathan died because he never learned his lesson, even though he was never out and out 'evil' the way Willow ended up being in S6.

But he was punished, he was locked up without trial by Buffy's boyfriend and then eventually executed.

Amy was either never punished or somehow she gets karmic punishment through magic gone wrong to save her from a demon possessese mob

Amy's punishment was the most justified, given that she, again, cast a spell she could not properly control and suffered lasting consequences.

he was depressed because she was dead, she was dead ecause of Dawn

Buffy made a choice, for Dawn. And Willow later denied her any choice, forced her back into the world and consequently brought about the First's apocalypse. How many died because Willow brought Buffy back?

Willow was never meaningfully punished for any of it, which is why the fanbase has to be hard on her and call her out again and again for what she did and what she got away with.

W&H's offer was supposed to parallel taking the corporate job offer without losing your ideals or idealism. Or, I mean in Angel's really thin season premises. Sadly, it didn't have an episode where Angel gets a friend executed for demanding that corporate announce next year's budget two months in advance, but hey.

the first ep of season 5 had him kill a human employee of W&H, so if that was what it was supposed to symbolize at the end of season 4, they'd abandoned it over the summer

It is absolutely linked. Jonathan didn't grow and improve himself, he just found those at a lower level that would accept him. And then he was shocked when those people turned out to have poorer moral values than he did and he still didn't distance himself enough from them.

Three years as a rat is a harsh punishment for casting spells you can't handle...but it did seem to send her over the edge.

Actually you should be harder on the heroes...because they're heroes. Holding them all to a consistent moral standard is kinda the reason why many people invest in the main characters to begin with.

sorry, this logic makes allowing Willow's apocalypse run or Jasmine's world peace would be the better end. Peace is available, we know how to get it and the stars of the show are denying it to the common people

When people talk about Jasmine's "world peace", they tend to overlook one critical factor. it's one that was never said, but is there to see....

The number of people she's eating at a time is increasing. She starts with 1, then 2, and by the end of that story she's doing 10-12.

So I can't get behind her peace, because based on what I've seen she's going to be eating cities in a few years.

while that is possible Jasmine's extra eating also came after a battle where she healed the injuries of dozens of her thralls. So it's possible it's less exponential growth and more the more power she uses the more she needs to eat
