Andrew is a cuddly puppy who needs more love.

I think he's loveable... he's so emotional and sensitive and just wants to be accepted. I kind of like the fact that he lives in his own little world and doesn't serve much of a purpose. He is just Andrew, and nothing else. I like that. An outsider and a misfit with his head in the clouds. I find that cute.

His crush on Warren was cute and his crush on Spike was funny but take those away and a big part of Andrew's character goes too. If, as @Priceless says, Andrew's role revolves around being a follower and a fantasist, then in Season 7 he is minus the opportunity to be those things. Yes he makes up his own little narratives about the others but they're out of place, they serve no purpose. Compare this to Season 6 where he fancies Warren and willingly follows him because of those feelings. Andrew would've fantasised about him and Warren being together hence the "how could he leave me?" when Warren jets off and leaves Andrew to be arrested. Season 6 served Andrew's character well, Season 7 doesn't.

The trio are one of the more enjoyable aspects of Season 6.

Andrew seemed to more in Season 6. He dint seem to have a pourpose in Season 7 since at times you wondered why Buffy & Company had him with them since he was just floating .

In Season 6 you knew why he was in Sunnydale & doing those things . He was following Warren because of his feelings for him even thought Waren i feel never did anything to make him think they were a couple . I also think all Warren had to do was ask & Ander would follow him anywhere .

Agreed.
Why are you all trying to make me hate a character who gives me the will to live?

No one is trying to make you hate a character. You are entitled to like which ever character you please. Some of us just don't share your opinion. That's it. This is one a conspiracy against you.

.I not trying to do that . I just saying he was better in Season 6 over Season &.3

And I don't like Kennedy but I don't say bad things about her since there some people here who like her .

Just saw some scenes with Andrew and First!Warren and it was really funny. But it still goes back to the point that Andrew needs the trio to play off of otherwise he just floats about not really doing anything.

I like Andrew better with them . The only person who gets him in the Scobbies is Xander & he trying to hide that part of himself.

When I'm feeling lonely and in need of comfort I think of his cute playfulness and enthusiasm, curl up in bed and imagine that we're just cuddling and telling each other stories. My Andrew is soft and cuddly and affectionate. Maybe you can't see that side of him but I can, and I need it. He's like my daemon (His Dark Materials.) I need him close to me or it feels like my heart has been torn out. Go easy on him, he's part of me.

I'm with you Triss! Andrews probably in my top 5 favourite characters. I think he's adorable n.n

When I'm feeling lonely and in need of comfort (and I need a shitload of comfort; I've been violently abused for most of my life and shunted from psychiatric ward to psychiatric ward all of my late teen and adult life, as I'm autistic and schizoaffective and have had more psychotic breakdowns than you've had hot dinners, just to give some context) I think of his cute playfulness and enthusiasm, curl up in bed and imagine that we're just cuddling and telling each other stories. It's not really fair to put the responsibility of your mental health on the other members like that. They should be able to dislike a fictional character, especially on a forum dedicated to the show he stars in. That's the point of discussion.

Since you like him so much can you give us examples from the show of things he did that you really like then 😎

Glad you're feeling better Triss but I do agree with @Bluebird that people shouldn't be held to ransom over being able to dislike a particular character. Everyone has their favourites and unfortunately Andrew very rarely tends to be one of them.

I stand by my point that Andrew works best when he's with the trio. In season 7, his scenes with First!Warren were so funny and provided some much needed comedy. However, when he wasn't sharing a scene with First!Warren, Andrew didn't really do much. I think that Andrew's role was supposed to be comic relief in Season 7, a break from the angst that was Spuffy and the scoobies turning on Buffy, but he needed First!Warren to play off of. Without that, Andrew wasn't funny, he was kind of annoying and didn't serve a purpose at all.

I would've loved to have seen more of First!Warren in Season 7.

Even though I don't like Andrew, I did cry with him in 'Storyteller' when he thought that Buffy was going to kill him. It was just a very touching scene. But I still strongly dislike the fact that he wasn't punished for what he did at all but upon reflection I could say the same for a lot of other btvs characters too so Andrew can join the club.
Finally, to appreciate him as this thread is for, some of his jokes were funny 🙂

You right Andrew wasn't punished for what he did but then a lot of people like Xander wasn't punished for what he did .
And don't forgot he was stuck in Mexico for a number of months knowing Warren had left him to die so that was punishment .

He was in Mexico because he was hiding from the police, avoiding his punishments 🙄

But isn't that a punishment since like we heard they didn't know how to speak Mexican 😵

Punishment doesn't mean much to me. I prefer genuine remorse (which is its own punishment). Andrew...once he could accept the reality of his situation...did show that. The time he cried tears of remorse and then continued the fight while accepting he was going to do die (which removed doubts that he was simply crying because of a knife to his throat) doing so showed genuine remorse.

True . Once Andrew stopped trying to hide what he did he showed genuine remorse.
